Change Management Conference
On the 25th March 2015, Aberystwyth and Bangor Universities will be hosting a one-day conference on Collaborative and Shared Services. The conference will take place between 10 am and 4pm in Aberystwyth.
This second annual conference is being developed under the theme of “The Management of Change” and will explore current activities and methodologies to support us in our efforts in the changing environment. More information

National Research Network for Low Carbon Energy and the Environment (NRN-LCEE Public Lecture Series) Lecture Series Launch
The NRN-LCEE, managed and delivered by the Aber-Bangor Strategic Alliance, launches its lecture series on Wednesday 25 February 2015 with a lecture by Caroline Drummond MBE on the subject of “Breaking Down the Barriers to Deliver Real Change to our Farming and Food System”, hosted by the Institute for Biological, Environmental and Rural Sciences (IBERS) at Aberystwyth University. Announcement – IMEMS Conference on Travel and Conflict
The Institute for Medieval and Early Modern Studies (IMEMS), based at Aberystwyth and Bangor Universities, will be hosting its second biennial conference at Bangor University, 3-5 September 2015 on the topic of ‘Travel and Conflict’.

REF Success for Aberystwyth and Bangor Universities’ Strategic Alliance
Aberystwyth and Bangor Universities are celebrating their collective success following the results of their joint research submission to the UK Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2014.
The Aber-Bangor Strategic Alliance, which was established in 2006, has seen the Universities collaborate on a number of research projects, policies and service developments in a partnership that draws upon the complementary research strengths and expertise of both Universities. Following investment from HEFCW, BBSRC and both Universities the Research and Enterprise Partnership (£10.9M) and the Bioscience, Environment and Agricultural Alliance (£50M), the Alliance presented two joint units of assessment for consideration by REF. Today, Thursday 18 December, both Universities are celebrating the success of the partnership and the joint REF submissions. Full press release here.

Call for Proposals - National Research Network: Low Carbon Energy and Environment - The National Research Network, being managed and delivered by the Aber-Bangor Strategic Alliance, today opened its main funding call. The programme aims to nurture and deliver high quality research outputs and achievements addressing the Welsh Government’s grand challenge in Low Carbon Energy and Environment. The funding call is aimed at establishing research clusters in the research community in Wales from the University sector and with key collaborators such as the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology, the Met Office and the British Geological Survey. Sêr Cymru National Research Networks Launched - The National Research Network: Low Carbon Energy and Environment has been launched Edwina Hart AM, the Minister for Economy, Science and Transport at the Welsh Government in an event hosted at Bangor University. The event launched all three of the National Research Networks including the Aber-Bangor led network for Low Carbon Energy and Envionment. These networks form a key pillar of the Welsh Government's Sêr Cymru programme. More....
Services to Business at Spotlight Mid Wales 2014 - Aberystwyth and Bangor are continuing to highlight their engagement with business and industry through their sponsorship of Spotlight Mid Wales 2014. Under the joint Services to Business brand the Alliance hosted a stand in the exhibition highlighting collaborative research activities, services to business and the the activities of the Cadarn Skills Centre led by Bangor under the auspices of the Strategic Alliance. Sêr Cymru National Research Network Director Appointed – Aberystwyth and Bangor Universities have appointed Prof. David Thomas to the prestigious role of Director of the National Research Network for Low Carbon, Energy and Environment. This represents an exciting appointment and key next step in the establishment and launch of this network which clearly positions Aberystwyth and Bangor as research leaders in Wales for environmental science.
